How is the 2003 Bordeaux vintage going??

Post by Adam »

I read that they started picking white grapes at Haut Brion (earliest ever) and forecast that red might start soon...

Does anyone know:

Whats happened to the weather since?

Does this weather mean that we are set for another best vintage ever (assuming the wine making goes well!)?

Or maybe...

Do Auswine board members even care whats happening in France??

Hi Adam,

I do care alot about the 2003 vintage becos of the potential and unfortunately the hype around it being the 'best ever vintage'. :?

There aren't many discussions on french in this board. if you like to know more, click on this link - http://groups.msn.com/BordeauxWineEnthu ... 7215813972, and read what some folks are saying abt the vintage.

I believe MarkD can chip in some of his view since he frequent that board.

Cheers,
Roland

PS : I got Lafite, Latour and Pichon Lalande for 2002. Missed the Cos and waiting for news on Mouton. How abt you ?

Thanks Roland.

Of the 2002's I couldnt help myself on the firsts, I got lafite mouton and margaux, also got some palmer and a few jother less expensive ones. Although compared to the lofty heights of 2000, all were comparatively cheap.

Initial reports of the 2002 Mouton are that it is very good, some said even better than the 2000...

Just got back from france 2 days ago and got to say that it was getting to the stage where the weather in bordeaux and the rhone was just to hot. Apparantly they had to water some of the vineyards (something they haven't done in soem vineyards for many years) becuase of the high temp. My first thoughts were of high alcohol wines with no acid (gtreat when young but thats about it). Hope this is not the case.
Cheers
Anthony
