I guess it had to happen at some stage. It looks like Robert Parker and crew are putting Oz wines into more than one issue. TWA#167 has a subsection titled Australia (Part 1 – Barossa, McLaren Vale, and Clare Valley) that has reviews on 712 wines with scores from 100 - 85; OK, there are two given (no rating) but what that actually means only TWA people really know.
I don't get the print issue but I suppose that #168 will be the big Aussie issue that you are all waiting for with crossed fingers!
There were a few Aussies in TWA#165 under Best Buys (Terrific Wine Values Priced $20 or Less) including the Mollydooker Boxer and Two Left Feet. Guess what wines also scored big in #167?
2003 Grennock, Run Rig, Standish, 2004 Kay Bros Block 6, Noon, Descendent did well, as did Penfolds Bin 60A and Grange, also HOG. Lots of Kilikanoon wines scored well.
2005 Mollydooker Carnival Of Love? 99 points! I believe I have a bottle waiting for me at a local shop, might go see if they still have it. Supposed to have voluptuousness to make Pamela Anderson jealous! I’m not too sure breast implants are the image I want in my mind as I drink this stuff. Then again it might be appropriate.

Well the 99 points has created a feeding frenzy. Just got back from the wine shop with my meager allocation in tow. They are now sold out. People have been calling all day. One guy wanted 60 bottles, he got 9. Feeling was that he was a retailer from New York who would probably just sell the wine at a markup anyway because it is effectively all gone.
It must have been a few weeks ago that I got my call about the wines being available, so as usual people have been waiting for Parker to pronounce before buying.
From the above release note:
"Food matches: These wines are great with fish (Great White Shark, Hammerhead, Marlin), white meats (Snake, Crocodile), red meats (Emu, Kangaroo), salads and cheeses (tossed Wattle flowers with aged Wallaby milk cheese)."
Yeah GRB, Great Whites are protected.
This is the type of complete bullshit being peddled to sell wines over in the USA I absolutely hate - for heaven's sake, why not make the label Green & Gold with a boxing Kangaroo and Steve Irwin (with or without the Stingray).
I don't know about now but a few years ago we couldn't get the Marquis Phillip wines in Canada. At a dinner tasting though, the hosts friend brought a bottle of basic Marquis-Phillip Shiraz that he bought in the US for US$15. He was quite pleased with himself for having contributed this "Parker approved 90-plus wine."
Well, it was a 15% alcohol, dull, heavy, and sweet affair that tasted clumsy and over wrought. Even my partner who is Australian didn't like it. (If its a high alcohol wine then she wants an Amarone from the Veneto, or a good quality Valpollicella Ripasso). I must confess that I haven't had the better offerings from Marquis-Phillips but if its anything like the style of the basic shiraz then I don't think I'm missing much.
By the way, is the Pillar Box Red also made by Sparky Marquis? It too is a "best value" red that garnered 90 points by Parker. Again, same profile as the Marquis-Phillip shiraz I had but not as sweet and thick.

losing the plot! ... anyway i think this 'COL' may be the new Duck Muck (ie99pts for the 1997 vintage). These days Duck Muck is better made, more structure than the OTT versions of the past..... wonder what the Duck Muck 04' will get?

Threads about Mollydooker wines all over the place over there. Quite funny in a sort of way. Then for some alternative amusement, stroll across to the threads bemoaning late delivery of hard copy WA and how they've missed out on the latest annointed wines - or others shouting about how glad they are to have got in the moment the scores were released.

If you take wholesale chunks of work and publish them (like say 5o scores), then its a breach of copyright, but if someone asks what a few wines scored, then its a different matter. Its not all black and white.

Pillar Box Red 2003/2004 (Chris Ringland btw) tastes like bubble-gum water after its been poured in the glass for barely 20 minutes. How in the world that gets 90 points yet many Mt Mary Quintets score below/around 80 have me very puzzled. I find RPJ to be consistent with most wines but once in a while he pulls things out from nowhere as well - I do question if he is trying to prove a point that isn't even there.
