Sorry for the newbie question, but how do I know if a cork is Diam from looking at it?

I suppose I could check this list to see if the wine uses it, but does it LOOK any different?

I had a wine the other day that had a plastic cork, but these seem to have been replaced by screwcaps, and it just got me to thinking would I recognise Diam if I saw one...

Diam cork is made up of a composite of small cork particles that have been treated and moulded, machined and finished. They are marked with a small equilateral triangle with a small circle near one of the corners

Take a look at this site:

Then click on the Diam story.
It shows a good close up.

Thanks for that, I understood the theory, just wanted to make sure what they looked like.

From that photo, it looks as if they are still very cork-like but you could still tell they were Diam. In fact it probably matching my existing mental picture pretty well, (just corks made from treated little bits of cork!)...

Interesting to note that ALL of this year's Mount Mary wines are bottled under Diam closures.
Let the kids out!

I think the little beveled edge is a dead giveaway for a Diam.
