I'm a long time reader, first time poster so be gentle.
Has anyone had a chance to try the 05 Greenock Shiraz? If so, any opinions or tasting notes?
Cheers,
M
I haven't got mine yet, but Kris indicated above that there were reviews/TN of the wines from Ric (TORBWine) and Gary W (winorama) and a long-established tasting group in Adelaide (blacktongues), all regularly posting here. They are probably as good an opinion as you are going to get.
Cheers Brian Life's too short to drink white wine and red wine is better for you too! :-)
I had a quick peruse of the newsletter before posting and it looks like all the Greenock Shiraz reviews are for the 04. Just thought I'd check to see if anyone had been priviledged enough to try the 05 as yet?
Interestingly, there is still some of the '04 on some retail shelves, probably as a result of increased production that year. Top wine, and I will certainly be buying some of the '05.
I don't have JH's book in front of me, but by memory he stated as an overview that 05 reds from Barossa were a 7/10 i think...but this is not stopping me from by the 05 Shiraz.

7/10?... i thought it was a good year! what was 04?

Actually, it wasn't the score for a wine but the vintage for the region. Still, your solution is still correct as each winery will produce very different wines under the same vintage conditions. Nothing like seeing if you like it.

Early days of course, but all the SA 2005 premium reds I've tried so far have been fantastic.
