Moss Wood Pinot 2001 worth buying ???

Post by Justin B. »

Hi all

As some of you would know, the lastest Moss Wood 2001 Pinot is out. To date I have been assuming that Margaret River cant make good Pinot and the latest JO book scores it 16/20 drink in the next 3 years. Yet Moss Wood say it will improve for at least 10 years. Maybe JO just 'likes em young'.

We know JO also scores the 93 Cyril H. at 16/20 and its a cracker, so maybe his scores aren't always an indication of what I will enjoy. Obviously I can just go out and buy a bottle and try for myself, but what have others experienced with MW Pinot, and in particular 2001 if you've tried it.

Cheers

Justin

Actually MR, like all areas can make great pinot depending on the weather that year.

The Leeuwin Art Series Pinot Noir 2000 was an absolute cracker, and then they stopped making it. Woodlands turn out the occasional beauty and the latest release from them, another 2000 is also a cracker. Moss Bros also turn out a PN that is regularly drinkable.

Just my 2c
