Big Pat for me and its a very scientific choice........our big black Lab is called Patrick. Before Sturday when he won a Flemington he seemed to have as much chance of winning the cup as the dog but his odds are back to 40-1 or so now. It jumping from barrier 18 from which no horse has ever won the cup so I figure it is about due.
I probably do my $$$ but its all a bit of fun and at the end of the day I got no idea!

Er, we kind of get involved in the Melbourne Cup here in NZ too, you know. Heavy betting at the TAB, office sweeps and the like - just no public holiday. Well the race doesn't start till 5.10pm local time anyway.
The local wineshop drew a sweep last Saturday. To get into the sweep you had to identify three blind wines correctly - wine variety and country from 3 options on each wine. I managed to i.d. NZ Sauvignon Blanc, Aus Chardonnay and Aus Cabernet Merlot and at the draw later on was given horse No. 11. If the horse wins, I win some wine. Sounds good to me.
Cheers,
Sue
