Regular Tasting events in Sydney

Post by action2096 »

Hi Guys

Jusy wondering if anyone could suggest/reccomend any wine clubs/retailers etc that hold regular tastings in the Sydney area ? (Northern beaches to be more precise although i don't mind a bit of a drive)

Over the last couple of years i've been trying to improve my knowledge & palate by frequenting sites such as this & others. When i read about something i think i might like i'll go get a bottle to try & if i like it then buy a few more to cellar. Problem is there's an aweful lots of wines out there and it hurts a bit when you spend $50 on a bottle of wine which you don't enjoy :x

The only one i am aware of is Wine Ark but if anyone has knows of any others i'd love to know

Cheers
Chris

They are occasionally a bit lame but occasionally quite good too but Vintage Cellars has fairly regular tastings and I know there's a couple of their outlets along the northern beaches. If you join their wine club, which is free, they send you their semi-regular brochures and they list their tastings in the back. They've had a couple of champagne masterclasses which were good and they have different tastings at different shops. Most of them are free.

Other than that, it's a matter of joining other shops' mailing lists and keeping your ear to the ground about tastings. Ultimo cellars also does quite a few tastings for a more international look.

There's a Victorian wine show on at the Menzies this monday and tuesday too.
