Seppelts St Peters 99 or 2000

Post by grahamg »

Yesterday I was buying 2 bottles of Seppelts St Peters. I had to make a choice between the 99 and 2000.
I went with 2000 based on Australian Wine Annual giving the 2000 95pts and the 99 90pts.
But afterwoods found that the Penguin guide gave the 99 5 cups and the 2000 only 4 cups.
Is there a misprint in one of the guides or is it just differences in the tasters opinion?
What do others here think of the 99 versus 2000 or any other vintages?

I would suggest it is just a difference in opinion.

My opinion is that they are both really good wines, with the '99 drinking slightly better now but the '00 to be better in time.

Graham,

Have not had either of these vintages of this wine. However, from memory their was a fair bit of discussion regarding undesirable levels of Brett in some of the bottles of the 2000 release.
Cheers

I had heard the same but the only bottle I had was fantastic with no noticeable level to me. FWIW - I have the 99 but not the 2000.
