Hacked

Post by Gavin Trott »

Hello

The site where the forum was located was hacked yesterday unfortunately.

Some people just have too much time on their hands.

The forum has been restored to an overnight backup, hence the losty posts for that morning.

back to normal now.

BTW had the quiz been solved before the hack?
regards

Annoying, isn't it !

You should apply the patches so they can't do it again !

Dear Guest,

Perhaps you mean 'they' as in the ISP hosting the site?

BTW it's most likely not lack of applying patches (not a MS Windows server) but just poor server security setup that allows the hackers to do their mindless stuff.

Dear anonymous,

"This can result in anything from "nuisance" posts to people exploiting cross-site issues to grab cookie data. "

So you think this little hole in phpBB brought the whole site down? or are you the dopey 'script kiddie' who exploited it?
Cheers
