1988 Yalumba Octavious
Probably the best Coonawarra Cabernet IÂ’ve had from Â’88. Very well crafted wine with obvious dedication in regard to quality fruit selection and use of oak. This wine is probably at its peak and should stay on a plateau for a few years. A wine often criticised for having too much wood, this one is excellent, with no overt oakiness evident whatsoever, itÂ’s all come together to produce a fabulous wine. Loved it. For a 17 year old wine, it showed more like something half its age. 18.25

The first release of this wine too (although Yalumba marketing would have you believe a later wine is the first release).

Had this recently and acree, its a wonderful wine.
Cheers
