1998 Fire Gully Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot - Margaret River - 14%
Pure flavours of blackcurrant and very obvious yet harmonious black olives with a background of savoury, aged complexities. Very tightly held together by abundant, harmonious, fine-grained tannins, the wine has the structure to age but I suspect the black olive might overdominate so I recommend drinking reasonably soon. Nonetheless, this is a lovely, beautifully ripened, restrained yet generous Cabernet. 17.3/20, 90/100.
