NV Prestons Kiwifruit Wine - 9.5% - New Zealand
I could not resist buying this wine when I saw it at the downtown Auckland Foodmart for $10.
Light gold and well-rounded in appearance, the nose is medium intense dominated by gooseberry with green bean complexity. The palate is smooth with more than adequate fine acidity holding the wine together and no apparent residual sugar. The complexing green bean is gone as kiwifuit juice characters join the gooseberry creating an enjoyable although simple wine. Finish is medium/short. 15.5/20, 85/100, to its credit this "wine" is worth a low bronze medal and is not unreasonable value at $10.
Sorry, I had to do it.
