Penfolds Bin 60A + Block 42 2004
Penfolds Bin 60A + Block 42 2004
Both still very elemental at the moment and super wines
Penfolds Bin 60A 2004
Amazing colour...deep purple/red...super fragrant nose showing plum, raspberry, violets, chamomile and mocha ....still with some estery (bannana) hints. Fantastic concentration on the palate and quite savoury. Red/dark fruits, violets and dried herbs and flowers. Very dense at the moment but with super structure. The tannins are uber-ripe and the acid profile fantastic. A great continuation of the bloodline.....will be a classic...(96 Points)
Penfolds Block 42 Cabernet Sauvignon 2004.....same, same colour wise.....super concentrated......a very 'pretty wine' on the nose , perfumed but with deep Blackberry, Cassis fruit...nice to see wines that are varietal ......violets again with hints of thyme. Deeply fruited and amazingly balanced. Again the acid profile is just fantastic and the tannins are super-ripe....it's a wine with such depth that it seems to drag itself over the palate in slow motion.....destined for greatness also (96+ Points)
Hats off....probably two of the best young Aussie wines I have seen

How many are being made?
I think its a sad fact that alot will be purchased for investing.
I will purchase one of each to cellar then drink longer term, but only if the price is <$450. Any dearer and I go First growth. How much is everyone here thinking of purchasing, if at all? Is price the deciding factor?
Cheers Barry

I believe the wine will be sold 'en primeur' in Australia in August.
I notice the 60A is already being offered in the U.K. for 125 pounds.....

Does that give us a ball park for what we "might" pay after tax, exchange etc?
Looking at that Penfolds website it appears that Penfolds offer it en primeur to selected retailers and they pass it on to the consumer.
There is a section on the website were you can sign up for updates on the release and the selected retailers.....
Price-wise I don't have a clue what it will come out at......
