Having 6 also makes it seem less obvious when you are selling at auction that you've tried one and must immediatly dispose of the other 5

PS - Wild Duck creek also does this but I have known him for yonks. Bottles wine straight fom his barrels from current vintage to fill out my standing order and carton balance. No labels just his silver penned "Duck" signature. Got a few of these and have no idea what's in them! Just a note to "try this one!"

Built a cellar a few weeks ago and found deciding how to fill it is quite interesting. The number one control factor for me is budget, as I suspect with most. My first priority get a decent selection, it's so much fun to go down to my basement cellar with a few friends over for dinner and give them open slather knowing I have tried only a few of the wines on hand.

Long term Plan...
Year 1, mostly mixed cases 1 /month. Budget aim 350/month (get a good selection on hand) 9 bottles @$20-30.00 and 2 at $30- 50 and 1 50+. Add some 6 packs if exceptional at $20-30 My math is not so good sometimes as my wife will attest to! (Case discounts always -20%)

Year 2, 2 x 1/2 cases every second month 6 of each Budget 600 each buy. at $50.00 / bottle range. Cases to ensure 20% discount.

Year 3, every 4 months 300/month i.e $100 / Bottle at case discount maybe a case of Grange etc thrown in.

Year 4, 1/2 cases every 3-4 months of superpremium wines.

Year 5, Re-finance the house, take out a line of credit to pay off credit card bills etc.
