I bought a couple of bottles of 2002 Bin 28 this week.
I know it's not the most important issue in the world but on nearly every bottle of Bin 28 on the shelf of 2 local retailers the label wasn't on properly.
There were either bubbles under it or the label was all puckered up.
As long as the wine's alright I don't really care but I was surprised at the poor presentation from such a marketing driven company.
You might expect this on a cleanskin or Rawsons Retreat.
I wonder how many people would be put off by this sort of thing? ie: paying nearly $30 at full retail price for a product that looks like a $9.99 bottle.
Probably not people who contribute here but what about someone looking for a slightly more expensive wine to impress the in-laws etc.
Penfolds poor marketing
This is a quality control issue rather than a marketing issue. Obviously something went slightly wrong in the labelling process. Maybe the person watching it had ducked out for a leak or smoke and couldn't say anything on discovering it or would have been asked how he/she let a heap of cartons through before correcting the process error.
If I were the retailer, I would have had them replaced rather than shelving them.
Agree it's tacky at any price point let alone $30. BTW, I'd be buying other things than Bin 28 at $30!
