TN: 1982 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

1982 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste (Pauillac)
Still dark red with slightest hints of brown edging. Excellent colour for age. Nose is massive cassis, cedar, oak and graphite. Classic Pauillac and still very unevolved. Enormous changes over two hours: from primary to complex, sweet. Great stuff. Palate is still big and powerful. Deep core of rich fruit. Needs more time, at least 5 years to my palate. Standout feature is long length, which differentiates itself from Aussie cabernet (often, correction, nearly always, lacking a killer length). Fine but solid tannins wrap the wine, a lovely counterpoint to the tight and focussed dark fruits. Will be superb in time and far superior to the 85 Grand-Puy-Lacoste had in March 2005, which was very good and I liked. An exemplification of the contradictory: power yet grace. Purely delineated.
94/100

and another one I formerly had. Have you got my 82 LaLagune and 82 Pichon Lalande to come?

Got both - but from Roseville Cellars! My brother however did buy some 82 PL from auction! Want me to get them finger printed?

I'm sure they must be mine. I'll have them back for what I got for them at auction nine years ago, about $50 !
