Under control - at last

Post by TORB »

Hi Good Peoples,

Over the last 10 years or so, my cellar has grown exponentially from around 600, where it had sat for a long time, to almost 2500. I blame this growth solely upon my meeting Brian and the contribution of other people who frequent this forum for being a bad influence upon my impeccable character.

For some time now, I have had the objective of reducing the size of the cellar but have never actually made much progress, the biggest problem was l kept on buying too much. As the first half of year is almost complete I had a look at a few quick numbers on RB's Cellar Master Program.

The good news is but I have only purchased 105 bottles so far this year. I have also sold 50 resulting in a net purchase of 55. Needless to say, solely due to the freeloading nature of my friends, I would have opened up more than three times that number (from my cellar) over the last six months. The result, a net decrease of about 125 bottles so far. I feel like awarding myself a gold star for restraint, but instead, over the last 24 hours, ordered four cases to share with friends. :)
Cheers

I thought I was only sharing in three, who/what is the other one? :?:

I'm trying to get my cellar down a bit too, have a few cases at Langtons this month, I have a friend who is just back from being O/S for a few years and needs some nicely cellared reds, a couple of forumites have helped out too (and scored some older reds at good prices) and there will be two wine-group dinners in the next few weeks, so I might almost be in control too.
Cheers
Brian
Life's too short to drink white wine and red wine is better for you too! :-)

If you know all my secrets, I will have nothing to surprise you with in the options games. :P

In all honesty, it's a dozen bottles of Pennyfield Petite Verdot from http://www.wickman.net/wineauction/auction/APViewInCat.asp?ID=20 and the money raised is going to charity. Marion is taking the other six, and at $15 a bottle, the wine is worth buying for something different. there are still lots available, so get in and bid quickly because the auction closes at 7.30 tonight.
Cheers
