TN: 1983 Château Gruaud-Larose

Post by Baby Chickpea »

Start of several Bordeaux TNs over past 3-4 weeks - starting from the bottom. Each day this week will post a couple more, with increase in quality and scores! :D

1983 Château Gruaud-Larose
Deep red core with some bricking at rim. Bouquet initially quite oaky with residual alcohol. Very big and rich. Later: toasty, nutty, blackfruits, earth and soy. Palate is full bodied with fine tannins, good length and some overt oak influence. Good balance but lacks something special. Solid but unexciting. Finishes hard and tannic. Drink up IMO.
87/100

Nice note Danny. Don't need reminding that my 1982 & 1983 Château Gruaud-Larose went west in the divorce settlement !

My advice is to stay single and enjoy life!
Cheers - Steve
If you can see through it, it's not worth drinking!
