Heads Up- Stonewallers' Lunch!

Post by JamieBahrain »

No wine wank was the only prerequisite of this lunch highlight at the Rockford Cellars. The phrase coined by Robert who sat at the table's head, wines poured majestically by Ian from Stonewaller's Cellar Door & the wizardry of Michel in the kitchen ( see Henschke's website for his previous credentials and wine/food matchings ) and Alison in assistance who will be a familar face to those who frequent Turkey Flat's Cellar Door.

Wines were Rockford and produce from the local area ( except prawns which came in from the Southern Ocean ).

No wine wank so the line up:

Rockford Stonewall Table

From The Cellar- ( very generous multiple servings )

2002 Local Growers Semillon

1996 Dry Country Grenache

1989 Basket Press Shiraz

1995 Basket Press Shiraz

1989 SWF Frontignac

98 VP

PS Marion Tawny

From The Kitchen & Garden:

Fenugreek Flatbreads with Goan Prawns & Rainbow Chard

Ma Pwo Tofu

Rabbit with Garlic and Rosemary

Passionfruit Brulee with Cherry Rhubarb

Coffee

Sour Green Apple and Rosehip Paste

To comment pompous or a breech of Stonewallers protocol?

Suffice to say an unbelievable combinaton of regional wines, food and hospitality!

98 points.

Again, a big thanks to the Rockford team!

Sounds great Jamie, as I thought they'd be. Just need to organise a group of Stonewallers and friends to cruise on up for a lazy afternoon.

How was the 89 Basket Press? for a poor vintage mine have looked really good over the last two to three years, a surprise packet.
Cheers - Steve

Yeah, I heard you were lunching at Rockford - on the grapevine of course. :) Glad to see it was as fabulous an experience as I've been told it is - trying to find time to organise mine as we speak. Good one.
