TN Request: '86 John Riddoch?

Post by BoBo »

Hi Folks

Has anyone out there had the '86 JR recently? Thinking of cracking a bottle but interested to hear of recent experiences and what to expect

Two bottles had last year (I posted a TN on this board as it was tasted alongside the 86 Black Label). Stunning and brilliant wine with years to go and blew the BL out of the water! 94/100

Agree in general terms except that I would say it si still a few years from its peak window rather than merely plateaued by way of clarification.

Given how well the 82 is drinking, it is not a surprise that a well-cellared 86 (a clearly superior vintage) still has substantial improvement.

cracked a bottle tonight

crumbly cork, but excellent colour, and after an hour or so this really started to open up wth classic coonawarra characteristics ... good length, but this really could do with another 3-5 years! great wine, will leave remaining bottles for a while

thanks for all the advice
