I tried to take this out for a stroll yesterday, but it just wasn't interested, so I corked it, stuck in the fridge, and figured I'd try again today.

Took it out a few hours ago, let it do some warm ups, and now, wow, what a change in attitude!

I really like this wine, and this style of shiraz. I've been weaned on the big, thick, chewy versions, but more and more, I think I prefer this. It's enveloping, but not smothering. It sticks around for awhile, but doesn't wear out it's welcome. It shows you a little bit, makes you wonder what else is in there, coaxes you along, and then gives you the goods.

Yeah, sure, whatever, but what does it smell like? And, more importantly, how does it taste???

I swear I smell Bazooka bubblegum. Or cotton candy. What is that smell???

But hey, there's more going on than just cheap sweets. There's a hint of charred cedar plank on the nose, along with a good dose of white pepper. Graphite. Very, very ripe plums.

On the palate, its just this side of silky smooth, with just enough tannins to make me think it could hang around a bit longer. Blackberry liqueur, a bit of menthol, chocolate, and some sweet oak.

All in all, I dig it.

Cheers!

By coincidence I had a bottle (in a big line up) of this last night. IMO it was just entering its drinking window and I will be in no hurry to drink mine; bloody enjoyable!

Guest,

Great tasting note, but how about letting us know who you are and, better still, becoming a member of the forum! You'll find a lot more people will make the effort to read your posts, you'll have a heap of support from fellow members, and the general public will have some idea of your tastes and preferences, making it easy to identify with your notes and align similar thoughts.

Cheers,
Max
