I've gone back through my notes on this to see how it has progressed over the las 3 years or so, and the pattern is very encouraging.
A lot of the old notes talk about charry oak, ut with time I'm noting this less and less. On he bottle I opened last night I have the oak squarely in the background and the fruit to the fore. nice wine now for the money, $14 at the time!
Lovely plum and blackberry fruit, slightly licorice like. Warm cuddly finish showing the alcohol slightly. Not loaded with nuance and complexity, but still a lovely fruit basket, still very enjoyable, still killer VFM. Great quaffing in the mid teens. 87/100.
Cheers

TN: Water Wheel Shiraz 2000
Andrew,
Thanks for the TN, I keep hearing how they are stretching the volumes with young vine material, but the price hasn't changed for years and it's still a reliable and enjoyable wine for those that like the style. I do and it's one of my fairly regular buys and good vintages will cellar for 10 years or so, the 1996 is drinking at it's peak for my taste.

I tihnk you're right Brian, these will last a lot longer than the 5 years I've had them, the 00 hasn't picked up a lot in the way of secondary characters yet.
If I didnt have a cellar bursting full I'd pick up some 02's ....
cheers
