Chardonnay: A drink you have when there is no RED wine, the beer hasn't arrived and the water may be polluted
Graham,
I presume you'll be sitting out the Chardonnay and PiNoooot round?
And to think I wasn't given any warning of such an event so I could jump on a plane and be there. Are you hosting the event? Will Craig and the usual suspects be there? Looks and sounds like a fantastic line up. I expect detailed notes of the stand out wines.

We had to cater for red & white drinkers on the night.

I did leave some info for the "W........" but perhaps they are still in recovery mode.
Tasting notes???? I hope I just get to try a few while working.

Be interested to hear how the 03 Lodge Hill goes. And the 02 Redman's. The Claret used to be an annual buy many moons ago when I lived in Sydney. I hear its fallen from grace.

I had to work, the boss was on my hammer, so there was limited opportunity to give it my best but:
03 Lodge Hill Shiraz - similar structure to the 02 with perhaps a little less intencity. It was opened and poured with no decanting. One of the managers had a half bottle he had taken to go home and I stole a small sample. I think it will be a very good Clare shiraz just a little below the 02.
02 Redman Shiraz - I made an effort to try this as I also bought regular cartons of this during the 70's and 80's. Even had a 1975 6 litre imperial that was consumed in 1989 - excellent.
This wine is a vast improvement on Redman shiraz that I tried during the 90's. I even stopped buying them. Somewhere I read that Redman had gotten a new winemaker from another Coonawarra winery. If this is the case then it has worked. This is a VFM wine.

A note for Brisbane forumites.
Last night at the Monier was a really good night. Would have been better if I could sample properly.
People were signing up for the next one which we haven't even thought about yet. It will be kept to a maximum of 80 people as any more would make the food side too hard to do. Having said that, I think we could have fed another 20 easy.
Some initially thought that $40 was a bit much as this sort of tasting had not been done in the area before. After the first two foods came out in quantity, they were more than happy.
Planning the next on for maybe June/July/August.
