gheiland,
Thanks a bunch for those tasting notes. I'm really keen to try some of the older Edelstones and based on your notes, I'll chase down a bottle of the '86, '90, '93 and '94 Mt Edelstones. I'll be doing a vertical tasting in June up to current release - which will be '02 by then. We'll have '98-'02 and hopefully an '86, '90 and '94 at the very least.
I had a squiz on Langtons and prices are reasonable as far as I'm concerned. However, nothing beyond '93 for current auction. Any thoughts on where I could pick up some older vintages, besides my Dad's cellar?
Cheers,

Heard some positives on the 2001, for those who tried..how do u rate it?
Chow chow,
I've tried the '01 Edelstone and enjoyed it immensely - definitely my style of wine. However, I haven't tried any of the previous vintages that had issues raised by the public (including forum members) over brett. I have a '98 HoG sitting in a cellar back in Brisbane so fingers crossed there are no issues when I crack it open in twenty five years.

Tip for young players: auctions are like buses - there's another one along in a minute. If you're subscribing to Langtons, you can probably assemble the world's largest cellar of MtE inside 6 months. Just wait an auction or two - everything you need will come along - especially recent vintages...
cheers,
Graeme

Thanks for the notes.
The 50th Anniversary for Mt Edelstone is not far away. Hoping the 02 is suitably impressive for the occassion.
For all ye of little faith- my Barossa scuttlebutt tells me Mt Ed 02 is a goody!
Graeme
I think a 95pt Parker rating for the 01 Mt Ed stopped contemporary vintages being seriously dumped at auction. A good 02 will put the train back on the tracks.

Gregor,
I have tried most of these vintages and would probably have scored the opposite - ie some of the older ones would have scored higher than the younger ones. I for one wasn't overly enamoured with the 92 or 93, yet thought the 86 was stupendous. If you get a chance, the 82 is superb drinking at the moment.
Sounds like a great tasting.
Cheers
