Intense dark fruit of the forest, nearly too intense for the palate although this has nothing to do with over-ripeness. The purity, depth and strength of the wineÂ’s blackberry, including its ripe seeds, is something never quite experienced before. There are also ripe cherry highlights. The palate weight is tremendous and the wine is tight and supremely focussed. Fine, ripe stalky, slightly chalky tannins are totally immersed in the wineÂ’s fruit. The wine is balanced and perfectly harmonious yet obviously young at 6 years of age. There is a mineral streak throughout but it is a totally clean wine. Upon tasting I thought this was a New World Pinot Noir, but then could not fathom any New World winemaker or vineyard that could craft this wine. Age will only benefit this wine. It might peak in a decade. Outstanding. 18.9/20. $150.
