1999 Seppelt Drumborg Riesling

Having purchased a couple of cases, the first few bottles, consumed some time ago, screamed "@#$% off, we're not ready for you yet :!: " At a recent party, a glass of such came my way, hence, a visit to the cellar and a closer looksee at what the little blighter has been up to.

Still youthful pale lemon in colour and starbright, the bouquet offers up enticing, fresh smells of lime, nettle, mineral and just the first hint of toast and petroleum. Mouthwatering, crunchy fruit in the mouth with flavours that mimic the nose closely. Of some weight and great persistence, another highlight was the crispness of the finish for a wine of such age.

Rated Excellent, a long and fine future lies ahead for this classy Riesling.
