TN: Myattsfield Touriga 2017

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

Myattsfield make a Touriga Nationale table wine from time to time, in addition to using it for its traditional role in a fortified wine. I'm not sure if this is the most recent vintage.

Surprisingly dark purpole colour for a seven year old red. The nose is also surprisingly aromatic nose, with licorice, juniper, redcurrants and cranberry.

The palate is fuller, with blueberries joining the red fruits, and there's some vanillan oak as well. Acid provides juiciness, and tannins are fine but slightly astringent. Medium length and probably not likely to improve.

Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
