G’day.
There’s obviously some deal going around between retailers and wineries because often, SA wine 1000 miles away is cheaper than what’s on offer locally.
I’m looking at a case a month of quaffers and a case a month of cellarable South Aussies, where do you unfortunate Crows and Port supporters buy your wine from? It seems perverse to buy SA wine from up the road, from an interstate retail chain, and ship it back.
Last month my premium case for the cellar was Agricola which was terrific to support. Any wine clubs etc of considerable value?
Hello South Australia! Where do you buy wine here?

Jamie,
Direct from cellar door, e.g. Wendouree, Mount Mary, Wild Duck Creek, as only source, or indeed best price
Cellar door wine clubs, a few that offer 10-20% off
E-tailer arm/club of larger players such as Treasury, Accolade, either through website or phone prices from wine brokers.
Small bottle shops that offer 10-20% on a mixed 6 or 12 bottles
Chains where there are third party cash rewards, e.g BWS/Liquorland/First choice, picked up Wynns BL Cab for $22 at a number of places, plus many many deals over the years. Otherwise just for cheap beer!
Very occasionally e-tailer websites that flog "mystery' wines at 50, 60, 80% off, have been some surprisingly good wines, and of course a few duds that have gone straight back
Qantas, particularly from sources where there are contacts with platinum club members and points bonuses...some high end stuff at half price, e.g Henty Farm, Mt Pleasant, Yarra Yering.
Word of mouth, industry contacts, auction houses/brokers and finally wine blogs, where there are many deals, often pricing errors/IT stuff ups to take advantage of
That's for starters
Cheers Craig

Treasury and Accolade sites can cough up some specials - recently bought another dozen 2023 Leo B EV Riesling for $14/bot.phillisc wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 1:09 pm Jamie,

Today picked up some aged Marsanne and aged Cab from Tahbilk for $20/bot.
Cloudwine is a good e-tailer for South Aussies, often with free freight, but you need to be quick.
Uncle Dan's in the right suburb can also offer quality quaffers as well as premiums at keen prices.
And get on winery mailing lists for quaffers too, eg. Lake Breeze Bernoota et al.

Just walked the dog past the Old Melbourne St Cellars. Now being fitted out for a cellarbrations bottle shop. How degrading for Melbourne St!

Just fired you a message Craig. Hopefully it got through. Can be a temperamental messaging system.
Re: Hello South Australia! Where do you buy wine here?
Selected cellar doors through memberships, not surprisingly for me Wynns, Balnaves, Redman, but also Bekkers
Cellar door mailing lists - Standish, Rockford, Bowen Estate, Majella, Katnook (although usually beaten by Accolade),
Treasury and Accolade on line
D'Or to Door (mainly old world), The Other Bordeaux (cheaper old world)
Other e-tailers with deals, WineStar, the 'Fo, Skye Cellars, Wine Collective,
Other on-line forums, one in particular focussed on good cheap wine
Secondary market, Langton's, MW, Oddbins
