at this stage I was getting followed and chased like I was on heat
Would love to know how these were drinking...

Hilarious about being hounded - funny how that happens!

1998 Rockford BP... brilliant bottle hardly any browning on the edges lovely palate weight... judging by the cork, has another 5 years
1998 John Riddoch beautiful nose, blue fruits a touch of leather, spice. Lovely twinge of sweetness. Still quite primary... couldn't split these two, wonderful wines.
2004 Wendouree Shiraz, this isn't nearly developed as the recent 06, but a nice drink. Plush fruits and firm drying tannins. No rush to drink.
Hardy's HRB 2006 Adelaide Hills/Clare Shiraz, found a few of these, interesting wine, in a good spot.
Seppelts 2012 and 2022 Drumborg Riesling. Magnificent examples of Aussie Riesling. The 12 is just gaining a golden hue, delicate soft primary flavours an absolute delight. 22 is an amazing wine. Lemon sherbet flicks between the faintest touch of sweetness and acid. Stunning. Have just ordered a dozen of the 23.
Fast becoming my favourite Riesling!
2012 Bolly LGA, apples biscuits butterscotch, a very nice drink.
A trio of 2023 Riesling Freaks, no. 3 4 and 34 (CV/EV combo). All very nice wines, brilliant with oysters and smoked salmon.
Trying an AFD before a big weekend coming.
Happy Xmas to all
Cheers Craig

Very hot, humid and lots of big storms in SE QLD on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

2022 Cirillo 1850’s Old Vine Rose: Quite pink in colour and very easy to drink. 3.5/5
2017 Seppelt Durumborg Chardonnay: Fast becoming one of our favourite Chardonnay’s. At 5 to 10 years old they are stunning. This was too. 3.5/5
2015 Dog Point Chardonnay: Right in its spot now. Just wonderful and a small step up from the Seppelt. 4/5
2022 Vanguardist Rose: very pale in colour and on the dryer side. Excellent wine and worth buying if you’re into Rose. 4/5
2018 Ballycroft Montepulciano: Lovely nose and palate is great too. Right in its spot and I wouldn’t hang on any longer. 3.5/5
2020 Disgorged Rockford Black Shiraz: I didn’t have a glass but the ladies loved this as is usual.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
Cheers
Ian
If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

many great wines over the four-day Christmas period. Actually, too many great wines
highlights:

2009 La Fleur Petrus 100 pts. Remains the best of the 2009 Bordeaux vintage, and I've been lucky enough to have tried all the top wines over the past 14 years. Just a freak of a wine.

1991 Faiveley Chambertin Clos de Beze. 98 pts. Wow, an exceptional bottle of this, complex with surprisingly persistent primary red fruits. Nobody makes Burgundy like this anymore, including this Domaine!!

1963 Mildara Cabernet Sauvignon. 96 pts. My last bottle of this, has been on a very gentle decline over the past decade, but still utterly magnificent, if not quite at its once-perfect peak.

2004 PYCM Batard Montrachet 96 pts Fat lemon custard, but incredible laser focus, how do they do this?? Stupid long, stupid complexity, such an amazing wine. Probably 15 years from peak.

2001 d'Yquem 95 points. Whilst fabulous, I think this is just going thru a shy phase at the moment, I'll hang on to the rest for another 5-10 years.

other wines that were good but not great (90-95 points) included:
1996 Lafite Rothschild, 1990 Grange, 1998 Rayas, 2005 Pichon Lalande, 1996 Wendouree Shiraz, 2014 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay, 2020 Tolpuddle Pinot,
2007 Bouchard Corton Charlemagne, 1994 Moss Wood Cabernets, 2010 St Henri.

unfortunately, our fair share of disappointing and corked wines, but a good time was had by all. Rest noe required lols

I hope everyone had a great Xmas and will have a great New Year to come!

In the end my xmas wines over Xmas Eve - Boxing day:

Louis Latour Pouilly Vinzelle En Paradis 2020- pretty fresh and clean style, decent for £20
2015 Château Langoa Barton- from BBR so excellent provenance, still super youthful in a deep fruited style
2014 Château Le Caillou- a new label for me, but this was drinking excellent now (Merlot dominant)
2013 Ch La Garde- a producer I often enjoy offering excellent value, classic cooler Pessac Leognan style
2011 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion- a distinct step up from the La Garde (as it should be for the price) and definitely still evolving

among numerous other wines during the week.
