TN: Pewsey Vale Riesling 2021

Post by Waiters Friend »

G'day

I've been buying this wine most years for at least 25 years now, and I believe 2021 was a pretty good year in the Eden Valley (and Clare, for that matter).

Pale straw in colour. Clean nose of lemons and limes, with a touch of florals, especially lemon blossom. Pretty straightforward and as expected.

The palate is a little less straightforward. It contains the lemon/lime which I expected, along with some tangy sherbet, and the back palate has surprised me with a touch of almond. Acid is high as expected, but in keeping with the style of wine, and the finish is clean.

I expect this will age as well as previous vintages; i.e. at least 10 years under screwcap.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Thanks for the note. I had this by the glass at a cafe/restaurant recently, it was lovely.

2021 is certainly highly regarded. 2022 particularly in the CV, is looking 'exceptional'. Looking forward to trying a fair few in the next month.

Had a bottle yesterday, so fine almost watery texture, nice lime cordial and crisp finish...not that I need anymore Riesling
Cheers Craig
Tomorrow will be a good day
