Not really the same thing. Most wine is shared when consumed, be it amongst 2 or 10 friends.

Giving a bottle to a mate to drink changes the dynamics, unless that mate brings it to a tasting you are at....

I can see where Jamie is coming from, he is basically saying it is Wendouree's privilege/right to decide who drinks their wine (an unusual predicament of the wine world that the most desired, low allocation winemakers find themselves in) It is not up to their customers to decide who gets to drink it. (which is what you are doing by selling them to friends and family and denying someone on the mailing list from getting a share). Buy what you want to drink, let them decide who gets it, if you don't like the idea, don't buy it. - that is how I see his POV, could be wrong.

No you’ve missed my point completely. In a few weeks 2020 Wendouree wines will magically appear retail and in the auction scene. Usually the howling at the lack of morality of punters doing this ends the Wendouree thread til next year.

To be clear Jimmy, I said it’s nobodies business what you do with your allocation. Any opinions in between are nothing but self-interest in my opinion. And it’s an opinion, which you can’t always have in this country these days.

My CC was charged for everything I ordered. Straight into my cellar.
No flipping , no sharing. Darkest corner of my cellar with a pack of dobermans chained up at the entrance. :P :P :P

I hope everyone gets what they want for Wendouree Christmas.
I'm a little excited for this vintage. Noted in a previous Wendouree offline was the way in which some producers handle challenging vintages.
Think the last one was perhaps 2011?

Well the Wendouree train arrived yesterday, six each of the reds. And 6 of the MoA, might stand one up the fridge with a straw

Yep full order evenly divided up with Tom, Dick and Harry. I’m suspicious of Harry-I reckon he sends his off to auction. 😃

That’s it for another year from me folks. Beautiful wines!

I find the Muscat a bit light for my taste. $1200 damage so I presume I got full allocation of reds

Not meant to be a Muscat in the true sense of the variety, even though lightly fortified, its more a mainstream botrytis style for mine.

I popped a 2020 Shiraz Mataro about a week ago, beautiful wine. Will leave the rest for a long time.

I just called Wendouree today, thanking them for a very smooth process, all seemed very calm this year.
Looking forward to 2021/22 releases and then the lad will take over...his name isn't Harry

I'm sure you will be Ok Pat.

I scored my mixed 6 pack. But, shit, I am getting to old for these current wines.

I'm interested to know how Wendouree did a cutoff this year. I'm sure all APB 'initial' subscribers got an offer, but did any/many of the coloured crayon mail list subscribers get offer letters? Are we any closer to cracking the colour crayon code yet? Is one colour above other colours?

I’m red crayon and nothing yet. Honestly I wouldn’t bother, but it’s the wife’s favourite wine. Been buying for 12 years now.

NSW red stripe. I ordered 6, CC got hit today for what looks like 4 bottles. Based on the dollars it seems like I missed out on the Shiraz Mataro this year.

I rang last week. They've run out of Shiraz Mataro.

I just got charged. I ordered four of each of the three reds (totalling 12). I'd already been told that there was no SM left. I've worked out that I've got three of the Shiraz and three of the Cab Malbec (so I missed out on one bottle each). I'm pretty happy with that outcome. Red striper.

Shiraz Mataro have been less loved than other wines in the previous vintages, which ironically have been my favourite of them all (like it even more than the Malbec varietals and straight Shiraz). That savouriness and grippy tannin were so addictive.

Wow they do go for a price now on the secondary market! Just checking Mark’s site and last vintage Shiraz $180 with commission. A member of my Hong Kong wine group just hoovered up a bunch retail and shopped them back to Hong Kong. That was expensive and you can blame me for some of the Asian demand. Always carefully presented the wines to show their best.

CC was hit for $922 today, which I presume means 6 of the Shiraz and the Shiraz/Malbec. Now just have to figure out where to put it…

Hi all,

I haven't been around much lately due to various life factors.
Called today and they are now out of everything except Cab / Malbec and the M of A.

You know I've got wines every year for the last 10 years and this is the first time I've missed out. Such is life.
For some reason I'm not disappointed.

Plenty of other places to spend my hard earned.
I appreciate all forms of alcohol, as long as its wine.

Feel exactly the same way. Apparently loyalty means nothing……

Maybe next year.
