Schott's Food and Drink Miscellany

Post by Elvispga »

I was given a really interesting book for Christmas called "Schott's Food & Drink Miscellany" by Ben Schott published by Bloomsbury. It is described as"Somewhere in between a cookbook, a wine list, a household guide, and a culinary history". I describe it as a book of lists.

One of the noteable wine list is one on the Chateau Mouton Rothchild lables. It lists some of the famous painters commissioned to paint the lables.

Worth tracking down and good reading whilst on the Throne.

Hey Grant

I'm working for Dean Wilson. Yes the same Dean Wilson who shot 63 first round of the Buick then shot +3 and didn't sign his card and got disqualified!!!!!!!!!!!! He was tied 16th so a Very expensive mistake.

Ouch!! Thats nasty..... and considering the need to get in the re-rank early, it hurts double. Played a lot with Dean in Asia in the late 90's, good guy, say hi for me.

Good luck this week, better keep looking over his shoulder in the scorers hut!

Grant,

What are your plans re golf this year? Staying local or any intent to play in Asia? (not sure what your card status is).

Stewart,

I'd probably describe myself as semi-retired.... I'll play a few tournaments this year, but will mainly concentrate upon my Corporate Events business and my media work.

Havn't really been able to get on top of my body for the past few years; I've had 5 separate surgeries overall and I find myself struggling to get through a full round without some ailment giving me stick. Rather than get the full ten count somewhere down the track, I'd prefer to recognise for myself that my body isn't going to get any better with time. There are some nice opportunities out there for me now so it is a good time all round to make such a decision.

One of the things i'm doing is setting up a website, should be up and running by the end of the week- just a bunch of my articles from Golf Digest ( both golf and wine) and tasting notes, plus various other wine related stuff. I'll let you guys know when it is functioning fully.

Cheers
