Display issue?

Post by WAwineguy »

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but posts where someboy quotes another user's posts are showing up as just blank posts on my feed.

Any suggestions on what is going wrong?

Not blank, but the quote display code appears like it's disabled (and I've seen that on some other posts recently)

Something has definitely changed.

If you go back to older topics some of the posts have disappeared.

Cheers Con.

Well, who can help? We did have an outage, and when brought back it seems to have developed this noticeable problem.

Who may be able to help correct this for me, its outside of my expertise?

Gavin

If I tried to fix it Gavin the problems would be even worse!

Hi Gavin
I don't know the software, but like all IT helpdesk experts, would lean on the power of google.

First up, I'd check the global settings (section 3.2 of this doc)
https://download.phpbb.com/pub/documentation ... tation.pdf

to see if BB code has become disabled

See also section 5.1 if this doesn't reveal the answer, in case there is a hierarchy of permissions where a higher setting is over-ruling a lower setting.

If neither of those work, it's generally best to search for people raising the problem, and at first glance, top of the list on a google search for "bb commands not working phpbb" was this one, which might be relevant if the outage was for an upgrade:
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension ... x/faq/2011

Hope this helps. If that still draws a blank, usually posing the problem on one of those forums will get helpful responses.
