I don't remember when I bought these but was looking for a St Henri and had en error in my cellar tracker storage location.
This is in a really good place at the moment. Decanted and left for 2 hours.
Some purple on the rim but this is moving into a brick red colour.
Black fruit prominent on the nose with wafts of tobacco / smoke.
Palate was long - really well structured, tannins have softened but are still holding this wine perfectly in balance.
Blackberry's with charred oak, hint of pepper and dark cherries.
A beautiful bottle that was brilliant drinking.
Drank with rib eye on the bone

I appreciate all forms of alcohol, as long as its wine.

I had the opportunity to taste a few of John Duval's wines some years ago, in Sydney at a Barossa Artisans tasting held in the old Customs House, and I must say that they were all markedly good. I was very impressed.
