Or The House of Seppelt, as they like to refer to themselves as :) .

Marquis Wine Cellar
23-ish$(?)
A deep dark orange amber, red glints, and golden tawney colour.
Rich viscous cling, and flattering nose of seductive and sumptuous caramel, burnt nut, candied dried apricot, and spicy baked mandarin/spiked clove, a nose for Christmas............

Why do I keep smelling Christmas lately ??
I hate Christmas :x !!!
However...........

This would be excellent for aprè-Christmas, or aprè-New Years, or aprè-work..........aprè-ski.......
with a hot tub, or a bowl of ice cream. 8)
The palate is filled with orange fruit, rich nutty almond-esk tannin, raisin and silky caramel........it's hard not to grab a straw and a pint glass right now :D
This wine is an absolutely bitch'n deal !!! This has GOT to be a Lancelot suggestion
Extremely excellent QPR !!
I'm going there to buy more tomorrow.......
Cheers,
Mishy

Nicks have this wine for $19.99, rate it 100/100 and 5 stars for value.

So I got some too.....

Gianna,
while Nicks give very high ratings it is a very good wine and great value. Enjoy,
MM.

These Seppelt fortifieds are stunning value across the board.

Without being sexist, this is such an unctous and sexy wine that it's at it's best poured over a hot woman.......and the rest is up to you and your imagination!

Think I'll go out and buy some right now....
Cheers - Steve
If you can see through it, it's not worth drinking!

Excuse my ignorance,

is this DP 38 a sherry? a port? a liquor?

I am having some now and am confused as to what style of wine it actually is?

can you clarify this for me.

FWIW - it is great stuff, massive caramel and toffee nose with honey undertones and a long aftertaste of sweet white chocolate and apricots.

Oloroso is a type of sherry, at the sweeter end of the spectrum (but not as sweet as a Pedro Ximinez). Not really sweet enough for any dessert other than perhaps a cheese platter, but a good aperitif.

Though its worth adding that both Amontillado and Oloroso "Sherry" come in different shapes and sizes. Many are medium dry, and inexpensive examples often add caramel or PX to sweeten and darken the wine. Gonzalez Byass Matusalem Oloroso Dulce is quite sweet. I put the DP38 at the drier end of the spectrum. Although slightly sweet on the front palate, it finishes very dry and refreshing. It's an excellent wine!
