Hi all,
Haven't posted in a while, but I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a cellar thermometer / hygrometer with an associated iphone App (or similar).
I built myself a home cellar last year in our crawl-space - very rudimentary, timber framing, foilboard & fibreglass insulation, and installed a basic AC unit. I've got about 150 bottles in there now, but keen to keep an eye on the humidity (can get very high - 95% the other day!), and temperature. Basically I'm road-testing it this summer before I move the rest of my wine in there.
My cellar is not easily accessible - I have a trapdoor in the floor in my son's bedroom, so try to avoid accessing after bedtime, and I want to avoid opening & closing the door as much as possible anyway. So at the moment, I use a bluetooth iTronics thermo-/hygrometer. Seems fairly accurate (I have another one in the cellar, and readings are comparable on both), but it only works within a limited range. This means I can't check the temperature during the day while I'm at work (when I'm most worried about spikes, particularly this summer), and only see a max / min range at the end of the day.
So I'm looking for something a little more advanced - someone must have developed something that I can hook up to my wifi, and track with an app on my phone? I can do this on the AC unit itself, but I think the thermometer is 3-4 degrees warmer. and I don't trust it. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Remote Cellar Thermometer / Hygrometer
Re: Remote Cellar Thermometer / Hygrometer
Do you have a power outlet in your cellar or does the device need to run off battery?

Hey - there is power.

Not sure what your budget is, but this will do what you want out of the box: https://www.ubibot.io/ubibot-ws1/. Can operate either via battery or external power. You can buy via Amazon for $159 including shipping.
For a much cheaper solution, you may be able to achieve what you want with this: https://sonoff.tech/product/wifi-diy-smart-s ... /th10-th16 and the corresponding Si7021 sensor. It doesn't log data per se, but you still may be able to achieve what you need. You can buy via ebay for around $20 including shipping.

Cheers - looks like exactly what I'm after.
You have experience with either of these?

I've never personally used the UbiBot, but I've researched this space before and considered buying one to monitor my off-site cellar.
SonOff is very popular in the home automation space. It will allow remote monitoring and alerts in real time. But it doesn't log data out-of-the-box. I don't use it personally but I've seen it working first hand in a home automation setup and the end user loves it.

I have the UbiBot one and it works perfectly. I just run off the battery. Took a little bit of messing around to put it in the right position, but once I got that sorted it's been fine. Easy to set up (must be, because I'm a technology misfit) and can see the cellar temp from anywhere in the world. Also measures vibration too.
I only paid $110 so maybe it was on sale? Perhaps it's $159 with the power adapter.

If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?
