Welcome to 2020. I picked up this wine from cellar door on the Mornington Peninsula in late 2016.
Garnet colour. The nose is complex, and immediately drew an 'aaah' from some of those around the table. There's dark cherry, five-spice, a little strawberry compote and some oak-derived savoury characters. There's also a slight stalkiness.
The palate is expressive, with many things going on in the glass. Tannins are fine and support the fruit flavours well, as does the acid. It fills the mouth without being heavy, and finishes quite long. Overall, a very well balanced wine, drinking well now.
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

I think i have a couple of these hiding somewhere so I will have to dig one out

Had one of these earlier this year, and agree, drank beautifully.

I also have a couple of these tucked away, purchased at release. The last tasting note on CellarTracker is from mid-2016 so it's great to hear how it's tracking. I'm finding the apogee for many Aussie pinots is around a decade for my palate. Over at The Wine Front, they have a drinking window until 2022+. Allan and Rory, do you think there's any further development to come?

I don't have lots of history with this wine, so cannot say with confidence. However, it is so good now, that further ageing may not produce significantly better results - just different perhaps. It will last for a while.Ozzie W wrote:I also have a couple of these tucked away, purchased at release. No, I don't think so, at its peak.
