Purple in colour. Although decanted before service, the nose starts off a little shy and dusty. However, there's blackcurrant, mint and cocoa powder emerging from the glass. Oak is moderate and sits in the background.
The palate brings the savoury characters to the fore a little more, with cedar and drying tannins sitting out the front and the fruit characters slightly backstage. It's medium bodied only, and has reasonable, but not exceptional length. There's a fair amount of supporting acid keeping it fresh.
This is too young; however, I'm not sure that the balance is there that will ensure longevity. It will either come together over the next 5 years, or start to show harsh acid over diminishing fruit. Time will tell, and I have more bottles of this. The jury remains out in the meantime.
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
