TN: Mount Horrocks Cane Cut Riesling 2009

Post by Waiters Friend »

Deep gold in colour bordering on orange.

The nose shows well developed lime marmalade, with some fig or quince, and a hint of ginger. The palate is rich and viscous, with the marmalade trickling over the tongue, but is offset by cleansing acid especially on the finish.

Drink now, if you have some - it's unlikely to improve further, and may in fact have been better a year or two ago.

Cheers
Allan

I have a single half bottle of the 1990 of this wine that I picked up at auction some time ago - I will be curious to see what it is like when opened in the future. Your note suggests sooner rather than later, and not to have high hopes. Hoping the sweetness lends something to longevity...

Hi Kenzo. I would be surprised if your 1990 is still drinkable - but please post if it is.

I opened a 1985 Mt Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling in 2014 .. It was unsurprisingly toast. But only cost me $8 or something at auction.
