TN: Warrenmang Vintage Port 2000 (Victoria)

Post by Waiters Friend »

In half bottle, under cork and not decanted before service.

Purple tending to tawny in colour. Sweet and rich nose with brandy butter, Christmas pudding, and rich dark plums. The palate is delightful, with an attractive viscosity, more brandy butter and a very long finish. A good mature VP.

Cheers

Hi Allan,

Nice notes there, thanks. It has been a long time since I heard anything about Warrenmang. Many years ago, when passing through the area I came across Warrenmang and was a little apprehensive of their wines when I saw that they were also a resort. However a spell in the tasting room had me exiting with a half bottle of their vintage port. My bottle was called 'Bazzani' and it was from the 1996 vintage.

Do you think we're talking about the same port or do they have two different labels/blends?

Cheers ................. Mahmoud.

You're 100% right, Mahmoud. Its got BAZZANI in capital letters across the front of the label, and I forgot to put it in the title of the post. From memory, Bazzani is the surname of the family that owns Warrenmang, and who developed the resort as well.

Cheers
