TN: MyattsField Petit Verdot 2011

Post by Waiters Friend »

Sourced from Perth Hills fruit. 13.7% alc. Drunk over two nights.

Purple black in colour. A ripe nose of red berries, cherry cola and violets, with some accompanying mocha and vanilla. Some of the aromas are showing development, and the fruits are not particularly primary, but evident nevertheless.

The palate reasonably balanced - the relatively modest (by PV standards, anyway) alcohol combines well with the line of acid and the flow of fruit and chocolate across the palate. Tannins are modest and integrated. The wine is medium to full bodied, not full-blooded (which some PVs can also be) and the finish is only just medium length.

Probably at its peak - I don't think this is going to get any better. It's certainly at a point of relative balance at the moment.

Cheers

Hi Allan

Just out of interest, why all the Myattsfield TN’s? I like Myattsfield and have been to the cellar door many times, but was just curious.

Hi Dave. I write them up as I drink them. I have about 50 MyattsField wines in the cellar of varying ages and varieties (or blends) currently, and I am working my way through them, along with lots of other wines (which I also write up mostly).

I have no commercial affiliation with them - I just like and buy some of their wines.

Cheers
