G'day
I've not stayed in the Denmark area (in the Great Southern region of W.A.) for about 7 years. My partner and I are heading down there for 3.5 days in early September. However, it appears the landscape has changed, especially on the food front.
Singlefile Wines no longer does food, apparently. Old Kent River has moved its cellar door to Margaret River, and taken its locally sourced marrron anbd lamb with it. Lake House now does platters instead of a la carte. There only seems to be 2 or 3 wineries worth visiting for lunch, and the restaurant scene in Denmark itself also seems to have deteriorated. But this is only what I can find on the interweb.
I'm hoping that some of you who may have traversed the area recently can advise me. Not necessarily for wineries to visit, but specifically for decent meals, and more specifically lunches. We are likely to retire to our yurt for the evenings (although something in the township might also be of interest).
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
Re: Denmark recommendations
I was down there at the start of the year and can definitely recommend Pepper and Salt (attached to Forest Hill). It’s is run by an Indian fellow and while I’d not describe it as necessarily Indian food, the dishes have a modern Indian influence to them. Very talented chef. Boston Brewery was also very good for a more casual affair.
