I would love to come to NY again one day if only to help raid your Champagne cellar.Mike Hawkins wrote:6 x 2008 Roederer Cristal.... had 24 on preorder, but the 50% hike on the 09 release price put paid to that
Will report back when I open it. Hopefully the cork gods will be kind.rooman wrote:This should be pretty good by now. I will interested to know what you think.Ozzie W wrote:A few wins from an auction tonight:

Thanks matephillisc wrote:Hi Michael, first release for this wine I believe, and was released on Monday. Comes from the 65 year old vines previously owned by Wirra Wirra. Had lunch coincidentally with Selina's (Andre's wife, he is the winemaker) parents on Monday down at the winery...Bondar did a little pop up as part of the sea and vines.
Really good to get the inside story on the history of Bondar. The Rayner oozes potential, will be a 10-20 year proposition...it has a great fruit profile, probably not as plush or forward as the violet hour, but really delicate tannins. Only 30 dozen made (1 barrel).
They also have a straight mataro...but neither I or the better half were really impressed, much preferred the Shiraz.
Cheers

Be really patient with the PH.... minimum 10 years for my tastes. It will be great in timeFredericoWines wrote:After Produttori del Barbaresco, it's now Australian Riesling theme:

Thank you Mike. What about Alea? Also needs a long time to mature?Mike Hawkins wrote:Be really patient with the PH.... minimum 10 years for my tastes. It will be great in timeFredericoWines wrote:After Produttori del Barbaresco, it's now Australian Riesling theme:

Agree The Lane is a great spot to eat. Their wines are first rate. Sensational view.Scotty vino wrote:Ade hills on the weekend.
Holy winter weather.
Went to The Lane for lunch. Great spot, recommend it.

The gru's really surprised me. top notch gear.
Not as much... it’s a good wine, but my tastes run to the drier end of the rizza spectrum, so I didn’t buy anyFredericoWines wrote:Thank you Mike. What about Alea? Alea is like a Pewsey Prima...early drinkers in the 5-7 year window for me.Mike Hawkins wrote:Not as much... it’s a good wine, but my tastes run to the drier end of the rizza spectrum, so I didn’t buy anyFredericoWines wrote:Thank you Mike. Last month it was a mixed case of 2016 Kumeu River Single Vineyard Chardonnays. I've certainly tried enough over the last 25 years here to know how to pick the eyes out of the offerings these days. Confident, cocky, opinionated but right lolvia collins wrote:"sad to admit its all local stuff"
Jesus Craig, NZ wines are still the height of exotica for me. I am freakin' out with jealousy seeing what's "local" for you
Or keep. The Marcarini can be like old Volvos that just keep on going and going. No rush to drink it IMO.winetastic wrote:Some drink now options:

I take the view that auction purchases should be attacked sooner rather than later, you never really know what storage was like...Ian S wrote:Or keep. The Marcarini can be like old Volvos that just keep on going and going. No rush to drink it IMO.winetastic wrote:Some drink now options:

A few winemakers in Clare told me 2018 was a train wreck vintage for RieslingGeorge Krashos wrote:6 X Petaluma Riesling 2017. Thought I'd get ready for the 18s.
Hope they told the marketers and media as well Mike...I might have Riesling stocks approaching your Champagne stocks...anyway a few bottles.Mike Hawkins wrote:A few winemakers in Clare told me 2018 was a train wreck vintage for RieslingGeorge Krashos wrote:6 X Petaluma Riesling 2017. Didn't recall the weather in March/April being that bad. And you always need early drinkers! Cheers.Mike Hawkins wrote:A few winemakers in Clare told me 2018 was a train wreck vintage for RieslingGeorge Krashos wrote:6 X Petaluma Riesling 2017. Thought I'd get ready for the 18s.

Nothing more... but surely the 17 stocks walked out the door. There are some superb wines from that vintageMatt@5453 wrote:What else did they say re 2018?Mike Hawkins wrote:A few winemakers in Clare told me 2018 was a train wreck vintage for RieslingGeorge Krashos wrote:6 X Petaluma Riesling 2017. Are they still trying to move their ‘17 stocks I wonder.
