I was puttering around the cellar when I came across something that I had forgotten about, a 1995 Capogreco Reserve Shiraz from Mildura. It's been a while since I bought this but I recall that despite never having heard of Capogreco and not knowing anything about it I was intrigued by the fact that this wine spent five years in 2,500 litre barrel and was bottled in 2000. So now it is a 23 year-old wine from vintage and 18 years since bottling.
Does anybody on the forum know anything about this winery and does any other winery age their wine in barrel as long as this? The only one that comes to mind is Huntington Estate in Mudgee. Some of their special bin wines received extended aging but nothing near five years.
Cheers ............... Mahmoud
