Purple in colour. Savoury earthy nose initially with developed red and dark fruits over a touch of oak. A little menthol and tobacco.
Viscous palate with lots of dark berries, a little dark chocolate, firm but fine tannins, and a reasonable level of acid. Slight alcohol heat.
Medium length / finish only. Overall, the middle palate appears richer than the nose, and the palate is then quite linear. Not mouthfilling entirely, but very satisfying in places.
It's possible this will get better but it's slightly out of balance now. I've had a lot of good experiences with this relatively inexpensive label, so I have some faith. And a lot of the surrounding vintages
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Thanks for the note Allan. I'm reminded that this year my Chalambar is a 20 year-old, has probably grown up, and ought to be opened. I'll keep an eye out for it when going through the wine boxes.

Thank you Rick, I'll keep that in mind. Also if you're ever coming through Edmonton I'm sure I can manage plenty of older Australian wines.
