This is one of those paintings that are an uphill struggle from the moment the first sketch is laid down on the canvas. I had issues with the glass right from the beginning and ended up moving it closer to the bottle by 5mm. The Krosno "Roll" decanter delivered a lot by way of reflection and distortion but delivered way too much of it to paint effectively. Then I decided to redesign the glass, something I'll never do again. One thing I am pleased with the "dust" on the shoulder of the bottle.
I know it will never be regarded as my defining piece but I'm pleased that I finished it.

Hey Rob,
another great work, even if some elements aren't quite up to your usual high standards. The glass and bottle are excellent I reckon, just the decanter is a bit 'over-reflected' and distracting. Still very impressed with your talent though!! And yes, the dust is really rather good, like a photo!
Cheers

Thanks very much Tigger. I'm looking for another decanter before I try again.

I agree that dust has a very natural look to it

I quite like the reflection personally. Gives it an impressionistic quality
