Greenock Creek Winery For Sale

Post by phillisc »

I see in the commercial real estate section in today's Tiser that GC and all its holdings at the original and new winery CD at Mararanga is on the market through Colliers.
End of an era, have always enjoyed the wines..suspect it will be purchased either by the Chinese or perhaps local agrisquillionaie Ed Peter...who owns a couple of wineries and a heap of other SA businesses
Cheers

If bought by "mainland" Chinese interests I hope it doesn't go the way of Warrenmang in the Pyrenees. The mainland consortium has shut down the resort and winery oddly. Though to start with, they never bought any stock.

Australian assets are quite cheap. Warrenmang went for the price of a decent house in Beijing. Perhaps Greenock Creek will go for the equivalent price of a nice house in China.

There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

That's a shame that the Waugh's are selling up. I guess all good things come to an end. It was a Greenock Creek wine that was the light bulb moment in red wine for me. The old cellar door was quite dangerous for tall people like myself and I had some good times in there.

The Cornerstone Grenache is still one of my favourite Grenache's and a must buy every year.

I just hope whoever buys it continues the brand, albeit with lower alcohol levels.

I'd imagine it will fetch quite a high price. The new cellar door is beautiful and there are some pretty good vineyards as well with some well reviewed wines made off them.

Cheers
Ian
If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?
