ThereÂ’s an article today in the Financial Review talking about Coles Myer offering ‘own brandÂ’ wine (and beer) in Victorian and ACT supermarkets, aimed largely at female consumers. This is contrasted with the Woolworths approach where the Liquor brand manager is quoted saying “I canÂ’t see why cleanskin needs to be a fadÂâ€Â. The article say Woolies organises its own bottling after buying wine, which they quote industry sourcs as saying could cost as little as $8 a case!
The paragraph I love reads “Bulk wine can be bought for as little as 40¢ a litre if wineries need to sell it quickly, but better quality juice is sold around the $5 a litre mark.Ââ€Â
ThereÂ’s a quality benchmark to aim at! And here's me paying $30 a bottle like a sucker
cheers,
Graeme
