Hi Rob, amazing technical skills, beautiful work. Thank you for sharing. Is that a Zalto Universal?

Re: "The Struie"
Hunter, I have done a number of paintings for Chris Ringland in fact he commissioned the Three Rivers I did a while back and used the "Work in progress" photos in a catalogue. As for Torbreck, I have been in touch and got permission. Hopefully they'll see the email with the completed painting on Monday.Hunter wrote:Rob, have you showed Chris or torbreck these ?

Re: "The Struie"
Thanks Dave. I have asked Rockford for permission to paint their wines twice but haven't been given permission. I never go ahead without permission because I just don't want the hassles and respect their decision. However, I continue to drink and enjoy Rockford and hope to get the go ahead one day. I absolutely love their bottle and label... I'm considering a petitiondave vino wrote:Awesome as always!!

I should actually clarify. I wrote to Rockford twice and even followed up with a phone call once but never got an answer. I don't see a lack of response negatively.
I did once ask for permission to paint from one brand and they told me that if I did they would take legal action. Why, I don't know, don't really care because I don't want to upset anyone and there are plenty of brands out there.
I like to have a good relationship with the winemakers and companies that I have worked with and that's the way I want it.
My personal story is that I love wine, always have since the first sip of home brew out of a barrel made by a friend of my brother. I was probably eight at the time. I even put 100 vines in my back yard and made some home brew. I painted my first bottle a Taylor's Shiraz many years ago, maybe even before Thomas Arvid starting painting wine art. I love the subject and that's why I'm painting as much of it as I can. My paintings take about six weeks to complete so it needs some passion.
Anyway, I do try and make a buck out of it. Each painting except for the commissions I do a short limited edition print run to try and make something from it. The vineyard/winemaker/company whatever end up getting two limited edition prints as gratitude for letting me have my way with their product.
Cheers
Rob
