TN: Framingham F-series Pinot Noir 2014 (Marlborough)

Post by Waiters Friend »

Purchased on my NZ trip in late 2015. I bought a few of these as part of a mixed case (15 bottles - innovative box) sent back to Australia. I haven't looked at one of these since .......

Light garnet in colour. A little strawberry compote and a lot more cherry - black and red. Oak is modest, and there's a little mushroom - but basically this is all about the fruit. The palate reflects the fruit, with light, almost ethereal tannins and some supporting acid. Medium length with some viscosity or texture across the back palate which seems to give some oomph to an initially light wine.

I think it's going to get a little better, and will look at this again in a year or so.

Cheers

I had the 2015 pinot regular twice this week
Tidy wine that manages to avoid dry red extraction and is most enjoyable
Unfortunately didn’t see the F series

"I think it's going to get a little better, and will look at this again in a year or so." So I have.

It's filled out ever so slightly, but is still in the 'delicate' spectrum. I'll try again next year.

And no, I don't keep a tasting calendar!

Any Riesling in that box Allan? Only ever tried one or two entry level ones, always curious about the range and haven’t got around to it.

For me Framingham's wines are all good but it is the rieslings that are stellar

I agree that the Rieslings are stars - especially the 'Select' Riesling (which has some residual sugar) and the dry which is released with bottle age. The stickies are also outstanding.
